Wherever I go, I carry a little notebook in my pocket

. . . so I can write down important things that I need to remember.

Independent Designer's Market

This Saturday, I'll be selling my Christmas cards at the Independent Designer's Market in Harvard Square.

Do you remember where Wordsworth was? Not the Curious George store, but the main Wordsworth book store? Anyway, that's where it is. If you were to walk around the curve from The Million Year Picnic to Tealuxe, you'd pass by it. Don't pass by! Come in and say hello!

Upcoming Holiday Sales

This Saturday, November 19, I'll be selling my cards at the Scituate Holiday Craft Fair. That's happening at the Scituate Harbor Community Building, 44 Jericho Road, in beautiful Scituate, Massachusetts. 10 AM to 4 PM.

Then December 3, I'll have a table at the Independent Designer's Market in Harvard Square. That's at 30 Brattle Street (former site of Wordsworth) and it goes from 12 noon to 6 PM.

Come by and say hi!

Happy Corduroy Day!

Yup, it's the date most resembling corduroys (11-11-11).

Did you wear yours today?

If you forgot, there's still November 11, 2111 to make up for it.

Heeby Jeeby #3 is here!

You can buy one from Bob.

The Hairdresser's Hand

Speaking of Halloween and weird hairdos, here's a comic I drew back in 1997.

MICE!

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to say "hi" at MICE on Saturday. It was a blast. Here's Bob and I at the Heeby Jeeby table:

Thanks to Renee Kurilla for the photo. Check out her MICE report for more. And also AIB's MICE flickr set. Hope to see you next year!

Oh, yeah, and you might notice in the photo that we are seated directly under our own artwork which was hanging on the wall. It was just like in The Muppets Take Manhattan:

A Couple of Comics Events in Cambridge This Week

First up: Thursday, 7:00 at the Harvard Book Store is the release party for Minimum Paige, an anthology of Boston-area comics artists. I haven't seen the book yet, but I know it's gonna be good!

Then on Saturday, it's time for MICE, upstairs in the Porter Exchange building. I will be there all day with Bob Flynn. We've got issue 2 of Heeby Jeeby Comix and lots of other stuff. Stop by and say "hi!"

Comic Art New England

I'm hoping to make it to the opening reception this Saturday, but I will probably be late. Anyway, check out the show some time. The original paintings for my eel comic* are hanging, and I'm looking forward to seeing what else is in the show!

* The version online is digitally colored, but I did a watercolor version for the second print issue of Heeby Jeeby Comix, and I like that a lot better. Come see it!

Butters in "Sahara Sands"

We got Butters back in January, and I finally drew a comic about him. Sorry for the delay!

VOOOOOM!

That's my painting for Picture This at the Danforth Museum in Framingham, MA. It's a show of children's book illustration by New England artists. I'm very happy to be featured alongside some great work. This piece is from a forthcoming graphic novel for kids. When and where, I don't know yet, but someday and somehow!

MeCAF Report

I had a blast at the Maine Comics Festival on Sunday. Here's a shot of Bob (on the right) and I.

As advertised, we did Free Monster Drawings all day—more than 50 each! Unfortunately, I don't have a visual record of these, but I got some great requests. Some of my favorite drawing challenges were a monster made out of Legos, a monster who "likes to go out to dinner," a 16-headed monster (generously down-graded to a 12-header by the requester as my drawing paper began to fill up with monster heads), and a 3-headed monster who has a really long tongue in one head, breathes fire from the second head, and spits out pencil shavings (!) from the 3rd head. If anyone reading this got a monster drawing from me, send me a photo of it! I would love to remember more of what I drew.
We were scribbling out monsters like crazy, but Ellen Crenshaw was even more ambitious than we were. Go read her MeCAF report!
Now I can't stop drawing monsters:

Free Monsters!

Bob and I will be representing Heeby Jeeby Comix at the Maine Comics Art Festival this Sunday, May 22. And we will be drawing Free Monsters—for you! Or for someone else, if you don't come. Here are some samples of what you might get:
