Dinosaur Party

Well, Dinovember is over now. Here are a few of my favorites:

Spinosaurus could fit an entire party sub in its mouth.

But then Iguanodon showed up with a whole stack of pizzas! Hooray! For such cool, party-saving maneuvers as this, and because of his distinctive thumb-spikes, Iguanodon was known as “The Fonzie Dinosaur.”

Deinocheirus

When I was a kid, Deinocheirus was known only by its rather fearsome looking arms. What mysterious monster might have wielded those claws???

Well, just last year more complete remains were found. It turns out Deinocheirus was a bit silly looking! It was duck-billed and probably used those claws for digging. Oh, well.

Dinovember!

That's right. Drawlloween is over, and now it's time for Dinovember. You can see more on my instagram, but for now here's Brachiosaurus:

When I was a kid, books about dinosaurs said that brachiosaurus’s nose was on the top of its head. Scientists have now rejected this hypothesis since it would have made flower-sniffing impractical.

More recent study of brachiosaurus’s skull suggests that it’s sinuses may have housed “resonant chambers.” In other words, Nose Trumpets!

Also, MICE was a blast!

It was another fun year at MICE with Bob Flynn.

I was very happy to get to compete in Iron Cartoonist this year. Here's Cathy and I with the "Garfield being wrongfully accused of jaywalking" drawing that brought me to victory!

I love cartoonists.

I was also interviewed by Alistair Book!

UPDATE: The Reading was Fun!

I had a great time at Barnes & Noble in Burlington on Friday. I read Hiding Dinosaurs, then drew some dinosaurs, and even a few of the kids came up and drew their own dinosaurs, too. If you missed this one, I will be back for another reading on December 12. And I will sit down next time!
