Lunchtime doodles from yesterday and today

Variations on a Versatile Shape:

My Sculpture Park Plan:

Today, I started drawing a bunch of overlapping circles, not knowing what they were going to be. After a while, I thought they were bubbles. That made me remember the time a few friends and I went to Vermont and Mark H. was blowing bubbles out of his mouth! (The kind of bubbles you're supposed to blow out of that little plastic thing that you dip in the bottle - not by actually pouring the stuff in your mouth!) He ended up feeling sick and sleeping out in the car, which was probably more comfortable than where I slept, under the dining room table. Ah, the good old days!

A Brookline Comic

This comic is based on a very hot day from last summer, before Cathy & I moved to Brookline, but we came and took a walk right along the border of Brookline and Boston. The idea for the story came to me then, and I thought it was funny, but much too ridiculous to actually draw. A year later, I still couldn't get it out of my head, so here it is!

And here's the soundtrack, which starts midway through page two:

I got my copy of Emberley Galaxy yesterday!

Here' my spread in the book:

It's available from Red Panda Comics.

Dan Zettwoch has up a color preview of his excellent contribution to the book, plus a few more Ed Emberley images.

(You know Ed Emberley, right? The Big Green Drawing Book?)

Dave K is also in there!
