The Hall of Critters
I've got a show up at MITRE in Bedford, Mass. right now. But, basically, you can't go see it unless you work there. Getting in is kind of like the opening sequence from Get Smart. Just thought I'd mention it anyway! But if you are in Bedford, you could go to Flatbread and watch them making pizzas.

STRUCTO!
It's been a year now since my final comic for the late, great Nick Mag:
And this week Heeby Jeeby Comix celebrates its first birthday! We're all doing new Halloween comics to celebrate so look out!

MICE photo
Hey, I found a picture of the Heeby Jeeby Comix table at MICE. It's not a great picture, but it does show off our nice green tablecloth.
That's me drawing, while Bob looks on, showcasing a different shade of the wonderful color green on his t-shirt. It looks like that guy on the right is busy reading the huge comic hung up behind us (which had nothing to do with us, but people seemed to like it). I snagged this shot off the Center for Cartoon Studies' flickr.

Comes with a custom doodle
Heeby Jeeby Comix issue 1 is now available in my shop, and each copy comes with a custom doodle of your choosing. Maybe you'd like a sparrow riding a rocking-giraffe?
Or a frog who can't quite figure out how to eat spaghetti?
Or, you know, whatever.

MICE was Nice
Yes, I had a great time at MICE this past weekend, talking to everyone, doodling, and selling comics. A big Thank You to Bob for getting us the table and for making it look so good with a perfectly Heeby-Jeeby-green table cloth (wish I had a photo)! And thanks to everyone who came by!
This is another microcomic I made to sell at MICE:
I didn't realize until the day after MICE that I made a big mistake on the spread below. Can you tell what's wrong?
That's right! The little cowboy obviously should've been a mouse!
I fixed it for future editions. Now there's at least one mouse on every spread. If you bought this at MICE, email me your address and I'll send you a corrected version!
Here are a couple more sample spreads:

You Stupid Dragon!
It starts off as one big piece of paper:
. . . and turns into a 16-page microcomic!
But how? Find out at MICE this Saturday!

Billy Gets Bumped
New comic up at Heeby Jeeby Comix!
Last week, I read Bill Peet's excellent illustrated autobiography. At the end of the book, he brings up the idea that everything an author writes has some piece of autobiography in it. He talks about his book Chester the Worldly Pig, and how his own life is reflected in Chester's adventures.
I often notice bits of my own life in my comics, but not until after I draw them! Take, for example, the following panel from this week's Heeby Jeeby comic:
Just replace "spinning a frisbee on your finger" with "drawing a comic about a kid spinning a frisbee on his finger." That's always the conflict: pursuing creative goals vs. living life!

The Paisley Pair Problem
When I was in high school, my friend Aaron and I happened to have the exact same paisley shirt. Of course, on the day when we both wore it, the two other guys we sat with at lunch were both out sick, so we looked extra ridiculous! If it had been a movie, the football players would have given us wedgies afterwards.

Slithering & Chewing Gum (take 2)
After making this animation in full color, I thought it would look better with only very minimal color. What do you think?

Can you slither and chew gum at the same time?
This is my first animation in 3 years. It was fun to do.
The idea was inspired by Illustration Friday's topic of the week, but I thought this one really needed to be animated.
