Sketch Battle at NESCBWI17

I had a great time at the NESCBWI conference this past weekend. Always a fun event.

A couple of weeks ago, I broke my arm in a biking accident. However, this is the third such incident in three years, so I've had some practice at being a lefty. I was even able to win Sketch Battle drawing with my left hand!

Here are some of my drawings based on the prompts:
"Animal Tea Party"

"Why did the chicken cross the road?"

"Make Voldemort cute."

Thank you to Christina Rodriguez for putting together this event, and thank you to Sarah Lynne Reul for the photos.

Doodle Book

The Doodle Book is now available in my etsy shop!

MeCAF was a ton of fun, as always. Here's Bob Flynn and I at our table.

We also did a Doodle Workshop. Here, Bob demonstrates creating characters out of simple shapes.

Useful Robots

Drew these in my sketchbook for March of Robots.

Useful Robot #1: Tooth-Brushing Robot

Useful Robot #2: Shoe-Tying Robot

Useful Robot #3: Vegetable-Eating Robot

Useful Robot #4: My-Little-Pony-Brushing Robot

Useful Robot #5: Bicycle-Riding Piggyback-Ride-Giving Robot. I like to bike, but if you’re too tired or lazy, get one of these.

Useful Robot#6: Roomba Helper

Useful Robot #7: Soup-Cooling Robot

Useful Robot #8: Toe-Nail-Clipping Robot

Useful Robot #9: Doodling Robot. I built one of these to fill up my sketchbooks for me. Meanwhile, I can catch up on the last ten years of The Simpsons. Were there some good episodes?

Lefty Monster vs Righty Monster

Starting to get my right-handed drawing back, but mostly still going lefty. So here is Lefty Monster vs Righty Monster. Who will win?

Broken Bones and Lefty Doodles

So a few weeks back I took a spill while skateboarding and broke a bone in my hand.

But while my right hand is out of commission, I have been working on my lefty drawing skills!

What time is it?

Time to boldly jump over a puddle barefoot, apparently.

Pretzels from Space

I've been flipping through my sketchbooks and adding colored pencils to some of the weird stuff I've doodled.

MeCAF ReCAP 2013

MeCAF was a blast once again this year! I loved meeting everyone who came out to the show and drawing lots and lots of monsters!

A Boston monster for José-Luis Olivares

These nice people requested "a one-armed monster who is depressed, but with a glimmer of hope."
Who can't relate to that?

And I got a request for a half-Chewbacca, half-vampire:

I also got myself a new fake ID from an enterprising young man at the show. I haven't tested it out to see if it works in Massachusettes yet.

Moira Swiatkowski snapped a good shot of us. Bob looks alert and ready for action, but I look a little out of it. I think I am actually in the midst of imagining my next monster to draw as I uncap a marker!
